Zebra printer

Zebra software

To set up the printer, Zebra provides the Printer Setup Utilities software. This is available for Android, iPhone, iPad, and Windows. Some settings can only be made with this software, while others can be configured directly on the printer, depending on the model.

Download links are available on the Zebra website. Zebra also provides video tutorials for Windows and Android.

Zebra printer setup

To print a paper label from the Fulfillment Android Application using a Zebra printer, the printer must first be configured. This guide describes the setup process using the Zebra ZD621 model as an example.

Enable PDF support (PDF Direct)

To print PDF documents, support for PDFs (which Zebra calls PDF Direct) must be enabled on the printer. This feature is supported from Link-OS version 6.3 onwards. Follow the numbered steps in the image below. After the configuration is applied, the printer restarts and PDF printing is enabled.

Enable PDF scaling (optional)

It is a best practice for the paper labels to have the same dimensions as the PDF documents. If a PDF is larger than the paper labels, the printer cuts off any parts of the document that extend beyond the label size. To prevent this, activate PDF scaling.

This action requires a USB cable connection to a Windows PC running the Zebra Setup Utilities (ZSU) software. After connecting, use the Open Communication With Printer button to send commands to the printer. For more information, see the Zebra SGD Commands Documentation.

Connect printer to LAN or Wi-Fi

The printer must be on the same network as the mobile device running the Fulfillment Android Application. If the printer has a LAN port, connect a network cable to it. To connect via Wi-Fi, the network settings must be entered on the printer.

To set up the Wi-Fi, follow the numbered steps in the image below. After changing the configuration, restart the printer.

Activate the Zebra printer for the Fulfillment Android Application

For the Fulfillment Android Application to use the Wi-Fi printer, the android_native_printing_enabled and android_zebra_printing_enabled configuration flags must be enabled. fulfillmenttools activates these flags in the tenant settings upon request.

Use the Zebra printer in the Fulfillment Android Application

Once the printer is set up correctly, users can access the printing function. Select the documents to print, choose the Wi-Fi printer from the list, and click PRINT NOW. The numbered steps in the image below provide a visual guide.
